Microsoft Excel is one of the most widely used spreadsheet applications. It is an extremely powerful tool with multiple functions, however the vast majority of people use less than 40% of the available power.

Production Report

The report below was generated using embedded SQL queries to connect to an existing production database.

The report provides information on quantities produced on each production line. The information refreshes each time the sheet is opened or if left open will update every 60 seconds

This report extracts data in a similar manner to the Production Report above but calculates line yields based on raw material used and product built.

Pivot tables are used to do a breakdown analysis of the data and the date selector can be used to obtain historical data.

Employee Incentive Program Weekly Employee Draw

An employee incentive program required a weekly draw for prizes. The amount of prizes each week was based on the number of suggestions received from employees in the proceeding week. The administration of this was a complex and time consuming process. By using Excel to automate the collection of the names, calculate the number of prizes and randomly select the winners, the time taken each week was reduced from several hours to just a few minutes.
