Custom Software

Sometimes off the shelf software just doesn’t do the job, particularly during a Lean Transformation project. In many cases trying to implement a solution using existing software can lead to unsatisfactory results and unhappy staff.

We can build solutions to do exactly what is required using the standard PDCA process to analyse the current situation and define the correct countermeasure. If a software solution is required, it can be built to the exact requirements of the project.

Below are listed some examples of the type of solution that can be developed

Hijunka Counter

A solution was required to facilitate the level load scheduling of production on a cell. The Hijunka Counter was developed to fit in with the existing process so that there was no change to the manufacturing instructions while allowing the master scheduler to load production according to customer demand. The application tracks each serial numbers scanned and prints a product label, once the specified batch size, in this case pallet quantity, is reached the batch is completed and the operator must scan a kanban card, supplied by the scheduling department in order to start the next batch and continue production.

Hijunker Counter

Label Printer

The label printer application was developed as a result of a PDCA project to investigate methods to reduce software licensing costs. The operator scans the product serial number and instead of using costly run time label print engines to print packaging barcode labels the application sends ZPL print commands directly to the Zebra label printers allowing multiple workstations to be set up without the additional expenditure of label printing software.
